AMIR | LIKE SEEDS ON THE GOSeptember 2021. Since the time of the great geographical explorations, objects and plants collected in the Far East, in Africa, in South America have begun to populate the villas, greenhouses, vegetable gardens and finally the kitchens of the main European courts, including the that of the Medici in Florence. Generation after generation, a cultural and botanical heritage from other countries has taken root in Europe and in Florence, and mixing with local varieties has given rise to new varieties, enriching the art and plant collections of our cities.
Amir as seeds on a journey 2021 is a project carried out in collaboration with theRegional Directorate of Museums of Tuscany | Villa La Petraia and Garden of the Medici Villa of Castelloand thanks to the contribution ofMunicipality of Florence | Fiorentina Summer 2021 and CR Firenze Foundation.

Between the 16th and 18th centuries, geographical discoveries opened up an unknown horizon of lands, people, cultures, art objects, botanical species, coming from distant worlds. Villa Medici La Petraia still retains traces of this passion for the exotic, from the portrait of a young albino from Angola, to Chinese watercolors and decorated porcelain vases, the objects tell the gaze that Europe has placed on the world.
