CYCLE OF INTERCULTURAL WORKSHOPS CONDUCTED BY THE MEDIATORS OF THE AMIR PROJECT
For summer 2020, the AMIR | reception museums inclusion and relationship proposes a
cycle of workshops aimed at schools, summer camps, families and after-school activities. Give reasons
decorations of African fabrics to the calligraphic art of the Arab world, from the rhythms of Africa to
birds of the world: an opportunity to look at art from "other" perspectives.

ARABESQUES
the art of calligraphy in the islamic way
Starting from the reading of some famous stories of the Arab world, the mediators Amir
they will accompany the participants in the discovery of the Arabic alphabet, a refined form of art, whose lines recall flowers, leaves and animals. With the help of games and pictures i participants will learn to write from right to left, to recognize some letters and to transcribe their name, using Indian ink and brushes.

geometric, decorative and figurative motifs in African fabrics
Used for ceremonies and traditional rituals, the patterns of African fabrics
they tell stories, represent symbols and tell us about spirits and natural elements
like rain and earth. During the workshop the participants will discover with i
Amir mediators, the richness and diversity of decorative motifs the different techniques for
produce them, and they will create a detail using watercolors and waxes.

LE LIVRE DES OISEAUX
i.e. all the birds of the world
The workshop includes the reproduction of an exhibition inaugurated in 1997 in Marrakech
where the artist Andrea Marescalchi wallpapered a room in the Medersa Ibn Youssef palace
exhibiting drawings that represented birds from all over the world. From these it will be born
the work “Le livre des oiseaux” completed in 1998 by the artist himself, the book of birds.
During the workshop the ink technique with which Andrea
Marescalchi created the entire work.

DAMBÉ FLOUR
From Florence to Africa, to the rhythm of music
Starting from the geographical maps depicted in Palazzo Vecchio, a
imaginary journey to African lands and cultures: a music and dance workshop
to meet new stories and sounds, while having fun.
